Known for its cultural history and natural heritage, Madhya Pradesh as a tourist destination can never be overlooked. Overwhelmed with green belt of national parks, reserves, the length of sacred river and elegant architecture, I was attracted to take the road trip to Jabalpur & Khajuraho with my better half.

Day 0:

Landed at Jabalpur in the late evening, directly headed towards hotel with a halt at restaurant for dinner.
Jabalpur, the cultural capital of M.P., is a city endowed with embellishing beauty and we were super excited to explore it the next day.

Day 1:

In the morning, after delicious breakfast, we started our road trip towards Dhuandhar Falls and Bhedaghat.

Dhuandhar Falls & Bhedaghat (Total Duration: 3-4 hours):
Dhuandhar falls, as the name suggests, gives a smoke-flow like view, making way through Marble rocks, which make this falls one of its kind.

While gazing at its beauty, I felt the touch of every particle of river Narmada on my face. It was an eternal bliss one can ever experience.

                         Dhuandhar Waterfall
It's a wonderful place to spend time and enjoy its beauty. Besides, you can also get some amazing clicks from all angles to cherish later.  😊

As you walk through its periphery, you will find river Narmada speeding gracefully through white rocks, which looks like a melting iceberg, adorned by the surrounding greens, forming a breath taking view as you sail down your gaze through the river bank.

Apart from its abundance of scenic natural treasures, you can also enjoy a unique ride from Dhuandhar. Wondering how!!! -  The answer is a Ropeway ride.

The ropeway ride here is not just for experiencing fun, but it also takes you to the other part of the Narmada river, i.e., Bhedaghat with a 2-way ticket for just Rs. 90 per person.

Without any second thought, we bought tickets, reached to the other side and from there headed on foot towards Bhedaghat, where we explored the view of river Narmada from the farther end. Compared to Dhuandhar, the river here looks amazingly calm and serene. This makes one wonder how the river changes its glory while descending through rock making a beautiful but aggressive Dhuandhar falls at one end, and the epitome of mighty serendipity at the other. It was amazing to experience the 2 sides of this magical water body.

Along with enjoying this magical view, you can also opt for bathing in sacred river and boating between the Marble rocks.

After spending over an hour there, we decided to spend some time in the beautiful marble market. The place is full of beautiful handicraft and artifacts like paintings, decoration pieces, earrings etc. all made up of marble. Also, there are plenty of options for refreshments available around to feed upon, before proceeding further into the journey.

Post having a satisfying meal of sumptuous snacks at the market, we then returned to ropeway station to ride back to Dhuandhar falls. We stayed there for a while to gaze at its beauty one final time and then went directly to the car parking, took our vehicle and headed towards the next destination- Bargi Dam.

Bargi Dam (Total Duration: 4-5 hours):
Bargi - one of the first dam to be completed out of the chain of 30 major dams on Narmada River Valley project. The major attractions of this place were an astonishing view of river Narmada from the top of the dam and the water sports facilities there.

Ready for some trekking?

Starting from the foot of the dam, around 350 staircases will lead you to the top. Thankfully, the weather was in our favor and hence we have climbed 350 steps without much effort. On reaching the top we discovered a captivating view of the confluence of the river, hillocks and the blue sky with white clouds. The view was so ravishing that my eyes were glued to it.

View from the Top of the Dam

To all nature lovers, this is the most peaceful and spectacular place you will ever find. It was so profound that you will always aspire to re-visit.

We spent around an hour and then headed towards water sports at the dam, which includes Speed Boating, Water scooters, Cruise along with Bird watching. These sports are well managed by Govt tourism department and are available at nominal cost. You will also find the restaurant for some refreshment here.

I chose speed boating over others, but as it turned out, it requires minimum 4 people while we were only 2. However, we were lucky enough to find fellow travelers who accompanied us on the ride. In all, it was a truly enjoyable experience that is recommended for all travelers coming to Bargi Dam.

After the wonderful ride, we were super hungry, so we rushed towards refreshment center, ordered snacks and had it while enjoying a beautiful view of birds playing with water. This was a beauty of Bargi dam, what else can you ask for.

Later we proceeded towards the main city to explore good restaurants and check out market, etc. to know more about the city structure. Then, we ended the journey of this wonderful city by having delicious dinner and proceeded to our hotel to regain our energy and enthusiasm for the next destination- Khajuraho. 😊

Stay Tuned for the second part of this Journey(Khajuraho)
