Studying medicine is a lifelong aspiration for many students, and the pursuit of a medical degree is a significant milestone in one's academic journey. India has a strong reputation for medical education, but in recent years, an increasing number of Indian students are exploring the option of studying MBBS in Nepal. This article delves into the challenges and benefits of pursuing a medical degree in Nepal for Indian students, with a focus on MBBS in Nepal, study opportunities, and MBBS fees in Nepal.

Benefits of Studying MBBS in Nepal

Cost-effective Education:
One of the primary reasons why Indian students are considering Nepal for their MBBS studies is the cost-effectiveness. The tuition fees for MBBS in Nepal are relatively lower compared to private medical colleges in India. This affordability factor opens doors for students who might otherwise struggle to finance their medical education.

High-Quality Education Standards:
Nepali medical universities maintain a high standard of education, often on par with international norms. The medical curriculum is in English, making it accessible for Indian students. Additionally, the universities are recognized by the Medical Council of India (MCI), which ensures the quality and recognition of the degree.

Similar Culture and Environment:
Nepal shares cultural similarities with India, which makes Indian students feel at home. The cultural familiarity eases the process of adaptation to a new environment, making the transition smoother.

No Entrance Exams:
Unlike India, where medical entrance exams like NEET are highly competitive and stressful, most Nepali medical universities do not require Indian students to appear for these exams. This relieves a significant burden for aspiring doctors.

Easy Admission Process:
Getting admission to MBBS programs in Nepal is relatively straightforward. There is no need for complicated application procedures or hefty donations. Admissions are typically merit-based, considering the marks obtained in 10+2 or equivalent exams.

Challenges of Studying MBBS in Nepal

Language Barrier:
While the medium of instruction is English, some Indian students may still face a language barrier in their interactions with patients, locals, or during clinical rotations. Developing proficiency in the local language, Nepali, can be beneficial.

Climate and Geography:
Nepal's varied climate and hilly terrain might be challenging for students who come from regions with different climatic conditions. Adapting to Nepal's geographical diversity can take some time.

Cultural Differences:
Although there are cultural similarities, there are also differences in customs and traditions. Indian students should be prepared to respect and adapt to the local culture.

Limited Clinical Exposure:
Some Nepali medical colleges may have limited facilities for clinical exposure and practical training. Indian students should research their chosen institution to ensure it meets their clinical training expectations.

Recognition of Degrees in India:
While the Medical Council of India (MCI) recognizes degrees from Nepali medical universities, there have been occasional changes in recognition policies. Indian students should stay informed about the latest regulations to ensure the smooth transition to practice medicine in India.

MBBS Fees in Nepal

The cost of studying MBBS in Nepal varies depending on the university and the location. On average, the tuition fees for a full MBBS program in Nepal range from INR 20 lakhs to INR 50 lakhs. The fees are significantly lower than what one might pay in private medical colleges in India. Additionally, the cost of living in Nepal is relatively affordable, making it a financially viable option for Indian students.

Conclusion

Studying MBBS in Nepal offers several benefits to Indian students, including cost-effective education, high-quality standards, cultural familiarity, and simplified admission processes. However, there are challenges such as language barriers, adapting to a different climate and culture, and potential recognition issues in India. Indian students should carefully weigh these factors before deciding to pursue their medical education in Nepal. Ultimately, the decision to study MBBS in Nepal should align with one's personal goals, preferences, and circumstances.

Food Preservation
Food is a source of energy for all of us. Unhealthy or spoiled food is the major cause of diseases in humans. This is known as food poisoning. To prevent this the food needs to be preserved in a variety of ways .Food preservation is one of the methods to protect food from unwanted microbial growth. After the food is produced, we store and protect by covering the rice and curry with lids to keep away flies and other insects. By this, we are protecting it from any infection caused by them. This is a short-term condition. Food preservation, on the other hand, is done to preserve food for a longer time.

Food Preservation Methods
Food preservation started long back in ancient times. Cooling, freezing, fermentation, sun-drying, etc., are few age-old food preservation techniques. With the advent of technology, modern methods of food preservation were developed. Chemicals and other natural substances were used for preservation. These substances are known as preservatives.

Chemical Method
Salt and edible oils are two main preservatives which are used since ages to prevent microbial growth. This is why we add extra oil to pickles. Preservation by salt is known as salting. Salting helps to preserve fruits for a long term. Meats and fishes can also be preserved by salting.
Other synthetic preservatives include vinegar, sodium benzoate, sodium metabisulphite, etc.

Sugar
Sugar is another common preservative used in jams and jellies. Sugar is a good moisture absorbent. By reducing moisture content, it restrains the microbial growth.

Heat and Cold Methods
Boiling and refrigeration prevent around 70 percent of microbial growth. Boiling kills the microorganisms that cannot tolerate extreme temperatures. Thus, it helps in food preservation.
Refrigerators have very low temperatures. Since microbes do not get optimum temperature they need for growth, their growth is inhibited. Pasteurization developed by Louis Pasteur is used until today to preserve milk.

Smoking
Smoking prevents dehydration in fish and meat and thus prevents spoilage. The wood smoke contains a large number of anti-microbial compounds that slow the rancidification of animal fats.

Canning
The food contents are sealed in an airtight container at high temperatures. Meat, fish, fruits are preserved by canning.

Sterilization
This method is carried out to remove microbes from food. For eg., milk sterilization at 100C kills the microbes.

Dehydration
It is the process of removal of water from food. It is the simplest method and prevents food spoilage by removing water.

Lyophilization
This is the process of freezing and dehydration of the frozen product under vacuum.

Radiation
This method is also known as cold sterilization. The UV rays, X rays, gamma rays kill all the unwanted microbes present in food.

What is Java - Java is a high-level, robust, object-oriented, and secure programming language.

Java was developed by Sun Microsystems (which is now a subsidiary of Oracle) in the year 1995. James Gosling is known as the father of Java. Before Java, its name was Oak. Since Oak was already a registered company, so James Gosling and his team changed the name from Oak to Java.

Platform: Any hardware or software environment in which a program runs, is known as a platform. Since Java has a runtime environment (JRE) and API, it is called a platform.

Java Example
Let's have a quick look at the Java programming example.

Example.java

class Example{
    public static void main(String args[]){
     System.out.println("Hello Java");
    }
}

To compile:
javac Example.java

To execute:
Java Example

Parameters used in First Java Program

Let's see what is the meaning of class, public, static, void, main, String[], System.out.println().

The class keyword is used to declare a class in Java.

The public keyword is an access modifier that represents visibility. It means it is visible to all.

static is a keyword. If we declare any method as static, it is known as the static method. The core advantage of the static method is that there is no need to create an object to invoke the static method. The main() method is executed by the JVM, so it doesn't require creating an object to invoke the main() method.
So, it saves memory.

void is the return type of the method. It means it doesn't return any value.

main represents the starting point of the program.

String[] args or String args[] is used for command line arguments. We will discuss it in the coming section.

System.out.println() is used to print statements. Here, System is a class, out is an object of the PrintStream class, println() is a method of the PrintStream class.
We will discuss the internal working of system.out.println() statement in the coming section.

Java Applications

There are mainly 4 types of applications that can be created using Java programming:

1) Standalone Application
Standalone applications are also known as desktop applications or window-based applications. These are traditional software that we need to install on every machine. Examples of standalone application are Media player, antivirus, etc. AWT and Swing are used in Java for creating standalone applications.

2) Web Application
An application that runs on the server side and creates a dynamic page is called a web application. Currently, Servlet, JSP, Struts, Spring, Hibernate, JSF, etc. technologies are used for creating web applications in Java.

3) Enterprise Application
An application that is distributed in nature, such as banking application, etc. is called an enterprise application. It has advantages like high-level security, load balancing, and clustering. In Java, EJB is used for creating enterprise applications.

4) Mobile Application
An application that is created for mobile devices is called a mobile application. Currently, Android and Java ME are used for creating mobile applications.

Java Platforms: There are 4 platforms or editions of Java:

1) Java SE (Java Standard Edition)
It is a Java programming platform. It includes Java programming APIs such as java.lang, java.io, java.net, java.util, java.sql, java. math etc. It includes core
topics like OOPs, String, Regex, Exception, Inner classes, Multithreading, I/O Stream, Networking, AWT, Swing, Reflection, Collection, etc.

2) Java EE (Java Enterprise Edition)
It is an enterprise platform that is mainly used to develop web and enterprise applications. It is built on top of the Java SE platform. It includes topics like Servlet, JSP, Web Services, EJB, JPA, etc.

3) Java ME (Java Micro Edition)
It is a micro platform that is dedicated to mobile applications.

4) JavaFX
It is used to develop rich internet applications. It uses a lightweight user interface API.

Role of History in tourism Industry

Generally history is offered as a product in tourism. History figures predominantly in promotional literature. Many destinations have always been promoted through their histrocity like Jaipur , Pink city , City of palaces , Fatehpur Sikri etc.

Similarly in travel writing history is a popular theme to write upon and it can be history of many things- destination, fort, palace, art and crafts ,people , airline etc. But history plays an important role in the area of Indian tourism as India is primarily a cultural destination in the International tourism. Not only in the International tourism but in domestic tourism also history and its by products remain prime attractions.

People often plan their trend to have a feel of their cultural heritage along with several other interests. So tourism is the most important  area today where history seems to become operative as an attraction , the pull factor or product for the consumption of tourists.

As a tourism product ,it figures in the
-         Promotional literature
-         Travel and tourism writing
-         Descriptions and interpretations provided by guides and escorts.

Offering historical destinations and museums as travel packages has been an old trade with tourism industry. With the growth of special interest tourism the relevance of history has further increased. In many cases fairs and festivals have also emerged as strong tourist attractions because they provide a good example of continuity and change.

The age old rituals ,traditions and customs are located in modern ambience in these fairs and festivals. History also figures in the shopping and entertainment because many tourists want to know the history of designs and styles etc. of jewellery and craft items. Thus history is very important for Indian tourism .

Qualities of a travel writer

1.      The writer should not be prejudiced. One should have an open mind while approaching the
subject. Even if there are any preconceived ideas that have to be tested on the basis of ground realities.

2.      A certain amount of preparatory effort is a must for any write up like reading about the place or theme to be covered. Familiarizing oneself with history, geography , culture is another exercise in this regard.

3.     Constant updating of knowledge and information is a must for a writer. Providing outdated information in a write up would not help anyone. At times the writer has to be a researcher also.

4.     Facts have to be vetted.

5.     Not everyone can write on everything. Hence one should attempt to discover ones own skills and interests keeping in view the limitations and abilities. The personal style of writing also has to be taken account of.

6.     Collated information gathered from various sources forms the basis of many write ups. It is always better for the writer to record personal experiences and assessment.

7.     Since visuals supplement the richness of a write up meaningful photographs and illustrations should be there. It is good for a writer to develop the skill of photography or else utilize the services of a professional.

Various   services   required by Tourists

1.     Eating joints  and bars: -  Different types of eating joints cater to the tourists. These range from restaurants and tea stalls to Dhabas and fast food counters. Local cuisine is generally  popular with the tourists because they prefer to eat the local food of the particular destination. Thus one should not just initiate western foods or joints but also give due importance to local goods and customs related to it.

2.     Entertainment  and recreation: - Entertainment is an essential component in tourism. On an average foreign tourists in India spend about 10% of their total expenditure on entertainment. The tourists are provided entertainment through various means specially at night or in the evening. This may include dance, theater , movies, theme dinner and musical evening etc. Similarly many hotels organize musical nights or dance performances during the tourist season. Another recent development is the organizing of short duration entertainment festivals by some State tourism departments like the Qutub festival in Delhi or Taj festival at Agra.

3.     Communication: - As tourists are away from their homes and work environment so they may want to communicate back home with family members or friends etc. Thus they need communication services like post office and public call booths . In recent years the number of STD / ISD booths have gone up to take care of such demands.

4.     Book shops and libraries: - Tourists want to read books during the long journey or just to relax themselves. That is the reason we see various book stalls at airports , railway platforms and bus stands.

5.     Photography: - One of the most popular services at destination is that of photographers. Tourists not only like to be photographed in the surroundings but also in the costume and attire of the region they visit. In almost all the hill stations we come across photographers with local dresses and tourists generally change into that attire and for a snap.

Well, often, when I ask my students, " What is Success to you? " . The usual answer is ," Mam, Lot of money, good life, good lifestyle, Owning a Mercedes Benz, Big House and the list is on and on....Really?  How do you define good life? And to my surprise, they don't even know the meaning of happiness!! the difference between pleasure and happiness. May I ask you," Do you know? Is it so difficult to be happy? Actually, it's very simple. We are so lost in our own world's, the so called race of life. when actually, life has never been a race. Like the different fingers in our hands, each one of us are unique in ourselves and have their own journey!!  " A self satisfied life is much better than a successful life because success is measured by others , but satisfaction is measured by your soul. A successful person may or may not be happy but a happy person will always be successful and satisfied. Life has a different exam for everyone which cannot be copied .To me, Success is ," To aim to become a better version of myself  each day, on the path of my journey, following my passions, soul mission and convictions!! "

So, again here, at an event organized by an International NGO, Where I had given a session on Interview skills to about 150 girls Alumini students from different schools and colleges, one student defined success as Lot of money!! So, to say,, All of us are Energies and even Money is also an Energy , which is meant to flow.

Like always, it is a beautiful feeling, when some of the students came to me after the session and shared that, Mam, I was so nervous before my Mock Interview with you but now I feel much better and so confident, I have learnt a lot from you today. Thank you so much, Mam!!" Now, this feeling of peace and happiness where I am able to make a positive change in someone's life, That's real happiness, and the purpose of my life. The mission of my life. What you leave behind is how many faces smile when they hear your name and remember you , Your words , your deeds is what matters ultimately. Be a good human being and Be happy always!!

Keep reading for more!! Do share your thoughts as well, I would love to read.

Stay safe, Stay blessed and stay happy always!!

Some of my Experiences and Learnings!!

Well, I just love this festival because so much of lights around, killing the darkness, light reaches everywhere, as if Universe is showering it's  blessings on all of us. After 2 long years of waiting, this Diwali had a very mixed feeling, as some of my friends had lost their closed ones unfortunately, so they could not celebrate and some others celebrated very well with a lot of happiness and smile on their face. As if life was slowly finally coming back to normal like old times. It was so good and beautiful to see light everywhere around in a series like always. As there is light after the tunnel and the tunnel was finally over .

An old friend of mine visited my place, after long 5 years and we cherished childhood memories and created some more beautiful ones. Good to feel that some things don't change and should not change. An old shopkeeper near my place, I used to visit often to buy some stuff, he was still there selling similar stuff. And he didn't forget me and recognized me, asking if I am fine and all well.

Same time, all of us light Diyas in the evening, so we see series of light everywhere killing the darkness. But what about the darkness in our hearts? Have we ever thought about it? What do we learn from Diwali?

Here are some of my learnings-

* Liberate ourselves from all the negative memories of the past.
* Forgiving everybody who has hurt us in any form and fill our hearts with love and peace.
* Kindness- A small act of polite words, kindness, humanity can go a long way. It might just change some one's life
* Happiness- Happiness within ourselves and spreading it too.
* Unity in diversity.
* Liberating ourselves from all the negative feelings in our hearts like Ego, Jealousy and fill our hearts with lots of positivity, hope and faith.

Let's ignite that light within us and keep it alive always!!

Hope all of you had a great Diwali full of beautiful memories like me. Do share your experiences and learnings with me, I would love to read.

Keep reading for more!!

Stay safe, stay blessed and stay happy always!!

There are certain assumptions surrounding makeup being tested on animals. Most of us think it?s nothing major and doesn?t really believe that it could amount to cruelty. So if you?re thinking that make up testing on animals is simply a monkey get its nails done or squirrels enjoying a sauna, you must know that the reality is actually quite grim and dark!

Animals that are deployed for testing are kept in complete isolation. They are forced to live a bleak life just for the sake of these tests which further add to their suffering. They are forcefully fed with the unrealistic proportions of products only for the purpose of observation by the scientists who are looking for the signs and symptoms of birth defects, cancers, and some other health issues. Their eyes are dilated with drugs and their skin is shaved and rubbed with the product to see whether they face any irritation or itching. To top it all, many times the poor animals are forced to take lethal dosages of chemicals to see what will kill them! This inhuman practice is prevalent across the makeup industry and many top brands are involved too.

The cosmetic industry is largely unregulated and thrives on the promise of making us look more. But the fact remains that in the absence of any concrete regulation and laws against animal testing, this is dependent almost entirely on the discretion of makeup companies who don?t really care about the cruelty factor. The animal testing methodology is absolutely cruel and archaic and simply not necessary when it comes to producing quality makeup products.

With the changing times there have been some positive drift against animal testing too. However, this is just the beginning as we need to go a long mile from here. Many countries like the U.S, UK, Australia, India, New Zealand and many more have come forward to stop this animal cruelty. There are many upcoming brands who are organic, pure, and made without performing any tests on animals whatsoever.

One such brand is MS Glamour that uses natural and organic ingredients that pose no threat to the planet or living beings. It aims to empowering and educating the consumers so that they can adapt to informed choices. We always believe in making people aware about what goes behind the scenes in make-up industry. We even make them clear on why are we always aiming at producing cruelty free make-up.

Now let?s discuss about the good news that has given some relief in the case of animal cruelty. Countries like US, India, Australia, Norway, New Zealand, Israel, Switzerland, U.K and Turkey and some other countries are also favouring a new law that talks of banning the testing conducted on innocent animals in Cosmetics industry.

This is a good beginning, but we still have a lot to cover in terms of collective thinking and empathy that we hold towards innocent animals. In China importers are still forced to test their cosmetic products on animals if they really want their supplies to stand in the Chinese market.

There are many organizations working for animal welfare that have statistics and records of animal cruelty caused by the cosmetic industry. Organizations like Mintel and PETA have estimated that 300,000 animals are used in cosmetics tests each year in China alone, with the Humane Society International estimating the death of 50,000 to 120,000 rabbits yearly over the past decade owing to cosmetic product testing.

While the above data is distressing but we do have some good news! In the month of July this year, China?s State Council announced that beginning January 1st, 2021, imported ?ordinary? cosmetics, such as shampoo, perfume, and mascara, may no longer require eye and skin irritation animal tests. A significant win for the animals and animal right activists, this regulation will surely pave the way for more concrete laws and lead to more concrete and positive changes in the right direction.

Make-up is a joy for the applicator, let?s make it free from cruelty too! Enjoy cruelty free make-up by MS Glamour!

Well !! Well !! Well !! Festival time and I just love festivals so much. I am sure, you all,  also do love them, as I do. It brings so much positivity, brightness, bonds and what not in our lives, the list is endless. And, this time was more special as it has come after a long wait of 2 years, it felt soooo nice to see old days back- Pandaals, Jhulaas, Mela, sweets, different dishes, all of it which we have grown with it. So, let me share some of my experiences and some beautiful memories, I had this time with you.

I was looking at all the stalls at one of the Pandaals , I visited,  I saw a stall by the name of Bhaalo bytes, seemed to me , as the stall must be selling some different Bengali dishes. Though, I didn't know and understand all of it but it again reminded me of beautiful memories, I had with my old Bengali best friend. He often used to bring home made Bengali dishes for me like paatty sapto, puran poli, and I used to love it so much. I immediately asked Uncle at the stall," Do you have Paaatty sapto? I would love to have it...My friend used to bring it for me , but now for last 5 years he is in the sky, though he still walks with me. ". He said," hmm ok!! Sorry to know this.... We don't have Paaatty sapto here as it takes a lot of time to make it but we do have it in our regular shop nearby".

I said," hmm ok !! I will surely come someday soon to have it. " Then he offered me some of his dishes like Malai Chamcham, Maalpua. I got some packed but to my surprise, he didn't charge me for the dishes he offered me to taste.  Then he said, " you can put your mobile number in that box, we will wats app our special dish for the day, Just one disturbance daily with a smile

🙂". Though, usually shopkeepers do ask their  customers to share their number with them but the way he asked, made me smile too. As I do avoid sharing my number like this and getting such msgs daily, his warm and heartfelt way was so different that we didnt mind. You know some experiences are such that they do make a nice mark in your heart. In todays time, when everything is so practical, calculative,  sales oriented, business oriented or too mechanical or with a motive only, I was really happy to see that somewhere, we still have that personal touch, that human touch, that generosity, that humbleness, that hospitality, alive.. If you ask me, I still love having food on that 'kele ka patta' . I really feel such festivity does connect us more and develop better human bonds which we do forget in our daily fast lives.
So, to say, have you ever observed, when we dance somewhere in a function , gathering or a party, we are so engrossed in dancing that we are even dancing with some strangers, and you never know when those strangers become your friends. If we open our hearts a little more often and keep that playful and happy child alive in us, we can see life with sparkling shining eyes. And the world around looks more beautiful!!

Do you also have any such experience where you found that heartfelt human touch or any stranger became your friend enjoying together or any such beautiful memory? Do share with me, I would love to read.

Keep reading for more!!

Stay safe, stay blessed and stay happy always!!

Natural and Organic- beauty products are the rage nowadays. Various new brands are coming up claiming that their product range is free of any harmful chemicals. These brands go the extra mile to send the right message across to the target audience and get social media and beauty influences to endorse their brands and claims. Many existing brands are coming up with new product lines and sub-brands to capitalize on this trend of ?organic?, ?botanical? and ?herbal?.

5 reasons why natural beauty products are worth the cost!

While the costs might lead you to think that these organic products are way out of your league, it is quite natural to wonder why such organic products are often expensive and why the cost is totally worth it.

1) Shelf Life

The first and foremost reason is shelf life. Natural beauty brands are known for carefully creating their products with highly concentrated and supreme quality ingredients. Conventional brands and products have a longer shelf life because of the presence of preservatives and chemicals in them.

2) Formulation

For most of the products you see in beauty stores, the foremost ingredient is water or aqua. Most of the products have water as the major ingredient, whether it is mentioned as it is or hidden under aloe Vera or any other herbal infusions. Typically, beauty products contain emulsifiers, fragrances, preservatives, textures, etc. leaving a small margin for the real natural oils which is the actual nutritive ingredient for the skin. Organic products have higher concentrations of pure ingredients which are carefully mixed and packed to give you the desired results.

3) Natural Ingredients

The essence of pure and natural ingredients is difficult to extract and takes a significant amount of effort to acquire which makes these products expensive. But given the fact that the pure extracts are used in such products and organic farmers spend extra money and effort in the cultivation of such ingredients, the costs seem logical enough.

4) Manufacturing Processes

Not many of us know that various organic product lines are made in small batches which drives up the end cost for the customer. Established brands produce their products in large batches at a mass scale which keeps the costs down.

When we buy organic and pure products, we experience a sense of goodness that our purchases are healthy and ultimately good for the planet. As we make healthy living a priority, we figure out ways to stay true to it and don?t mind paying a little extra for pure organic products.

5) No Side Effects

Parabens are a common ingredient across many health and beauty products. They have preservatives that extend the shelf life of products, even though they are synthetic and mimic your body's natural hormones. Such artificial ingredients can preserve the product but may cause harsh reactions. Organic products make use of natural preservatives that are gentle on the skin and do not affect your body negatively.

While conventional brands may seem cheaper and readily available, organic beauty essentials are sustainable and healthier to use regularly. MS Glamour is a brand that is completely organic and contains no harmful ingredients in its makeup range. Visit our product selection to know more.
