छत्रपती शिवाजी महाराज कांचनबरीच्या किल्ल्यावर फौजेसह,खजिना, संपत्ती वाहक बैल घोडे १५हजार फौज होती . महाराजांना अजून एक समजली की दाऊदखान इकडेच येतोय फौज घेऊन. महाराजांना अगोदर पासून माहित होते की युद्ध अटळ आहे म्हणून खजिना, बैल,घोडे ५००० फौज सप्तश्रृंगी व वणीच्या मार्गाने पाठवून दिले.
युद्धाचा दिवस उजाडला तारीख होती १७ ऑगस्ट १६७०. खासा इख्लासखान कांचन किल्ल्याच्या पायथ्याशी आला. होता.तर त्याने त्याने बघितले तर मराठे जय्यत तयारीत आहेत व खुद्द खासे श्री छत्रपती शिवाजी महाराज चिलखत घालून ,हातात दांडपट्टा घालून घोड्यावर बसून युद्धाचे नेतृत्व करत होते.मराठयांनी इख्लासखान चा तोफखाना बरबाद केला. महाराजांनी केलेल्या युद्धरचने प्रमाणे इख्लास खान यास चारही बाजूंनी घेरले. इख्लासखान च्या ही गोष्ट लक्षात आली तो फौजेसह जाऊन मराठ्यांवर कोसळला. युद्ध सुरु झाले . मराठे शौर्याची पराकाष्ठा करीत होते. मोंगल सरदार कुमक करत होते. हत्ती मराठ्यांच्या ताब्यात आले खासा इख्लासखान जखमी होऊन घोडयावरून कोसळला. दाऊदखानला ही बातमी समजताच त्याने राय मकरंद नावाच्या सरदारास पाठवले.
